In life you, you first learn, then unlearn and then re-learn most things.

Let me explain this in terms of festivals and rituals. when I was young I used to love celebrating festivals. This is what my family and surroundings taught me from them I unconsciously learned all the rituals.
When I became independent, I stopped celebrating these festivals. Seeing them as just a big hassle. This was my unlearning, on days a festival I would rather travel than celebrate them. It was also a learning that it's okay to not follow certain rules you have been taught over the years.
After a few years I realised, festivals are a great way to bond with people, friends, family or making new acquaintances. This gives you a premise to really interact with the world. The best part is you can still choose which rituals you want to follow and even create new ones. This is where you relearn to appreciate things in life, in your own way, with your own understanding.
