We (Millennials) are a very lucky generation who have actually experienced an analogue world. We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into building a digital world, while also ensuring that it thrives. We were the early adopters, who became enthusiasts then made digital a part of our every day life. Now instead of bracing for the impact of an AI world, we are taking it head on. What a thrilling ride this has been with a promise of something more remarkable written in the cards. While I feel truly blessed for the journey, there is something which has been troubling me for quite some time.

The Question — Are we the last of the thinking generation?

Our lives were already tainted with snapchat filters and now we have turned it into a full fledged Ghibli studio movie. Our emails now sound more professional than ever with every i dotted and every t crossed. AI can now use a deeply emotional hook and write a heart stirring gazal, nicely composed as a song which will move you to tears. All this will happen in minutes, not even waiting for the inspiration to strike. So is our thinking going to be limited to writing the perfect prompt?

I went through a rabbit hole of all my fears to figure what would really matter in this Brave New World. Here is my “List”

1. Authenticity — Our being human might eventually save us. Our personal experiences, stories, emotions and interaction with the world remains ours and no one can actually take that away from us. Not even AI. Our story will remain ours to tell.

2. Understanding > Knowledge — AI might have access to far more knowledge and computation power than a single human. That said, knowledge is now freely available, understanding is something we will have to cultivate. It can create a lesson plan and teach you concepts in fairly easy language and in the way you understand them. A better teacher right at your disposal and for free. The speed of understanding will also increase muti fold now. You are left with no choice but to upgrade yourself.

3. Creativity — Creativity will become the new currency. Thinking out of the box will become thinking outside of AI’s limit. AI is going to push the boundaries of human thought without fail.

4. Experience — There will be yearning of diverse experiences because only those weave our tapestry of self. This is the core input for our output of Creativity. We have already started it with travel, concerts, art classes and yoga lessons — this space is going to be wilder than ever.

5. Diversity — Diversity will become the new keyword. How once we were being forced to fit in, now we will be rewarded for standing out. No need to hide your authentic self, even AI is waiting with bated breath to hear your point of view.

6. Action > Thought — Now that we have offloaded all our thinking and overthinking to AI in most cases, it’s imperative that we take Action. You already have the hack to find most trending product, build a digital product or most viral hooks. The business plan is already shared as pdf, templates are available for notion, script is written for Elevenlabs, storyboarding is done for Canva, even prompts are pre written for LeonardoAI. So what exactly are you waiting for? Take Action.

7. Creation - If Art is the highest form of human expression, now you are left with no excuses but to create it in the form of your choice. All the tools are at your disposal, your every handicap has an AI solution. Everyone should create. You need to venture into a parallel career right away, one which might not yield money but definitely speaks to your soul.
