The Guilt of writing using AI

No human thought is an original human thought, only understanding is. What this means is that we might know a thought in some form or the other but we take our own time to understand it. That moment of understanding becomes the eureka moment. Every writer is just an observer of its environment, they just process the same event from various perspectives and write about what resonates most with them. The only originality might be the voice which was not mainstream before, was now being focused on and is represented. So the thought which has been written about, already existed in the event and realised by the unrepresented voice. Moreover, most of our thoughts are inspired by what we have read, seen or observed around us. If that is true then what is truly “Original” becomes a debatable question.
With generative AI, thought has been democratised. Everyone who has a vague idea in their mind can leverage this tool to not only reach an understanding quickly but also frame it in simple words which were not so easily available for them before. The argument here is, we are giving too much credit to the originality of thought. So in case, as a writer, you are feeling guilty about using AI or are in a dilemma of whether or not you should use it for your work. My take would be to go ahead and do it right away, without guilt. Your idea is bigger than you.
Also it might not be your idea alone but you were just able to express it better. The task of a writer is not to keep generating new ideas but to become evangelist of an idea or a thought and make sure it reaches out in the world. Now more than ever, ideas have become the unyielding force and can reach far and wide in just a few minutes.
Generative AI knows it all, as writers we need to push ourselves, and AI, harder to unearth the unrepresented perspective and put all our power behind the ideas we truly believe in.
Do let me know if you agree or disagree. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.😉
